E3 – Ubisoft Press Conference

Jun 2nd, 2009// by Ridley // Games

Disappointing, this is the word that best describes Ubi’s showing at this year’s E3.

They kicked it off with a godawful, boring, nearly one hour log lecture James Cameron’s, about his new movie “Avatar”, whatever this has to do with gaming. After that they finally showed some games, starting with Red Steel 2. I have to say, for a Wii title this game features some really impressive graphics, and the gameplay didn’t look too bad either.

When they were done with Red Steel 2, it got boring again. Something about their new Petzzzzzzzzz games (yeah, like HamsterZ and HorseZ),  some cartoon football game called “Academy of Champions” that looks like it’s gonna suck really hard and the same SplinterCell Conviction Trailer and Demo we already saw at Microsoft (it was sweet though).

One of the more interesting things was the introduction of a new motion tracking camera, so they’re taking Microsofts approach. Although this looks more like Eye Toy than Natal….

After some weired, yet funny footage of “Rabbits Go Home” ,the newest mini game-collection featuring the crazy rabbits, and the announcement of a TMNT game Ubisoft finally came to the part most people were there for: Assassin’s Creed II. It was just underwhelming. They only showed a 2 minutes long CG trailer, about the Assassin hunting down some fat guy and then killing him with his hidden blade canon (or whatever it is meant to be).
